How large is Peter Island?

At 1,800 acres, Peter Island is the largest private island in the British Virgin Islands. Peter Island Resort is the only resort on the entire island.

Is Peter Island nonsmoking?

All guest rooms on Peter Island are nonsmoking, but smoking is allowed on Peter Island in designated areas. Thank you for respecting this policy.

Will I need a passport to reach Peter Island?

Yes, passports are required to travel to the resort.

Updated Passport Requirements: The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that, after January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the BVI have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. This is a change from prior travel requirements and affects all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. Please note the revised date for passports required for re-entry into the United States from the Caribbean. 

Visitors from some countries may also require a visa for entry. If in doubt about the necessity of a visa, contact the nearest BVI Tourist Board Office, the nearest British Embassy, or contact the Chief Immigration Officer, Immigration Department, BVI Government at: Tel: 284-494-3471 or 284-494-3701 Ext. 4700.

What is the dress code on Peter Island?

The dress code is resort casual. Collared shirts and nice shorts are accepted.

Will I need electrical outlet adapters for my stay on Peter Island?

If coming from the United States, you will not need any adapters. Like the US, the electricity on Peter Island is 110V / 60Hz. For guests arriving from Europe, adapters are available on the island, though they will not convert voltage.

What is the most commonly accepted form of currency in the British Virgin Islands?

The US dollar is the preferred currency throughout the BVI, including at Peter Island Resort & Spa.

In what time zone is Peter Island located?

Atlantic Standard Time.

Are there ATMs on Peter Island?

There are no ATMs on property. The nearest ATM is located on Tortola, which is a 20-minute ferry ride away. However, guests may withdraw up to $100 from the front desk for a 5% fee. Also note that any Peter Island Resort & Spa charge may be billed to your guest room and paid at check-out.

Are there air-conditioned accommodations on Peter Island?

Yes. All our rooms are individually climate controlled and feature a ceiling fan.

Will there be a TV in my room?

TVs and DVD players are available upon request. Peter Island has a DVD library available at the front desk. The Club Room also features a TV for your viewing pleasure.

Is the water safe to drink on Peter Island?

Peter Island hosts its own reverse osmosis plant to desalinate our water. The water is safe and delightful.

Is there Wi-Fi available on the island?

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms and common resort areas.

Will I have cell phone coverage on the island?

Cell phone coverage on Peter Island depends on your carrier, because you are in international territory. Please inquire with your provider.
